Tilaks Visit Re-enacted same incident in 2001

It was hundred years ago (i.e. in 1901) that Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak had visited the Ganeshotsav of Keshavji Naik Chawl.
To commemorate this event a programme of 'Return of Lokmanya Tilak" was arranged on 25th August 2001.

Mr. Vinayak Kulkarni a well known actor and T.V. personality from Pune enacted the role of Lokmanya Tilak in the period costume complete with famous 'pagdi'. He was carried in a Horse drawn carriage. The event evoked so much enthusiasm that large number of people in the contemporary dress spontaneously joined the entourage. Lokmanya Tilak and the procession was extended a grand welcome at Keshavji Naik Chawls. By all means for the people of Girgaum it was an unforgettable experience. The programme received a tremendous publicity even at the organising stage and thereafter through newspapers and electronic media.
